Fatima Sana Shaikh on MeToo

Well-known for her roles in Ludo, Dangal, and now in Metro… In Dino, actress Fatima Sana Shaikh recently spoke candidly on the reality of sexual misconduct and casting couch in the show biz.

Fatima noted that the Me Too movement has made Bollywood more accountable, adding that people are more careful since movie sets now have staff members assigned to handle issues before they get out of hand.

She continued to explain that timely investigations and open discussions around sexual harassment are taken more seriously. She thinks that this change isn’t limited to Bollywood and evident in a number of industries.

In response to concerns around her personal experience, Fatima revealed that she had never encountered such situations at work. She made it clear that the awkward situations she did experience were separate and did not reflect the entire profession.

Fatima praised OTT platforms like Amazon and Netflix for their mandatory PoSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) training on sets for all cast and crew members.

Her interview sparked debate online, with many noting that while Bollywood seems to be making progress, similar problems persist in other fields. Some women questioned why, if an entire industry can implement change, society at large can’t do the same.
