Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and Hithik Roshan’s Kaabil opened on the same day in January leading to fierce competition between the films. It is a general belief in Bollywood that films coming out in January do not perform well at the box office. However breaking all these stereotypes, Raees has done extremely well over the week and has managed to enter into the 100 crore club becoming Shah Rukh’s seventh film to do so.

Meanwhile, Hrithik’s Kaabil has lagged behind with 73.50 cores earned over the week. This entire week the numbers were showing great fluctuations but the final verdict has Shah Rukh clearly winning the top spot.
Especially down South in Tamil Nadu where Kaabil and its dubbed version Baalam had opened to a whopping 174 screens to Raees’ 101 screens, Raees still managed to do a better business by earning 2.10 crore in 5 days compared to Kaabil’s 1.55 crore.
