Kangana Ranaut Slams IC 814 Amidst Emergency Delay

IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack came under scrutiny after its release for hurting the sentiments of a particular community with their distortion of facts. The key terrorists involved in the Kandahar Hijack were given the code names of Hindu deities that brought much backlash by religious extremist groups. Meanwhile, this might be a genuine concern being raised by people who are hurt, Kangana Ranaut has made this into an opportunity for defending her film Emergency.

Emergency touches the sensitive topic of Indira Gandhi’s death and Sikh Riots, and the narrative seems problematic to the Sikh community. Kangana Ranaut in the past has had many rough patches with the community, be it during Farmer’s Strike or the airport incident. It seems like she has taken the matter a bit personally while making the film. The film is struggling to get a green signal from the Central Board of Film Certification. Emergency was supposed to be released on 6 September but now it has been delayed further.

Kangana Ranaut took to criticising IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack and questioned why censorship is so biased. She even went on to claim some makers want “tukde of the nation”. She questioned the supposedly free expression of anti-national content on OTT. Now, we can’t imagine how far the Emergency controversy will stretch, makers have moved to High Court and fans are waiting for the release.
