Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran have started filming Meghna Gulzar’s crime drama Daayra. The project, backed by Junglee Pictures and Pen Studios, brings together bold storytelling with a strong distribution setup.
Kareena and Prithviraj are known for their powerful screen presence. Prithviraj plays a police inspector, while Kareena portrays a character with fierce determination. Early behind-the-scenes glimpses show a raw and gripping tone, setting Daayra apart from typical crime films.
This is the third time Junglee Pictures has collaborated with Meghna Gulzar, after acclaimed films like Raazi, Talvar, and Badhaai Do. Pen Studios, headed by Dr. Jayantilal Gada, adds weight with its past success on films like RRR and Gangubai Kathiawadi.
The screenplay, written by Yash, Sima, and Meghna Gulzar, examines the complex relationship between crime, punishment, and justice. The story blends contemporary themes with timeless questions about morality and law.
Prithviraj is also in the spotlight for his role in SSMB29 with Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra, directed by SS Rajamouli. However, Daayra is scheduled to release first, making it his big-screen entry before the Rajamouli film.
Set for a 2026 release, Daayra is already being seen as one of the year’s most anticipated films. With Junglee’s fearless vision, Pen’s production strength, and the star power of Kareena and Prithviraj, expectations are high.
With filming underway, Daayra is building strong buzz in the industry. The film is positioned to draw both audiences and trade watchers with its intense performances and hard-hitting theme.
