Customs officials raided the homes of Malayalam actors Dulquer Salman and Prithviraj Sukumaran as part of a probe into luxury car smuggling. The investigation stemmed from a case alleging illegal import of high-end vehicles.
Raids also took place across Kerala, including Kochi, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Kuttippuram, and Malappuram. Fans of both actors felt relieved as officials confirmed no irregular luxury cars were found at their residences.
The raids fall under Operation Numkhor, a drive targeting illegal vehicle imports. Numkhor, which means “vehicle” in Bhutanese, focuses on homes of wealthy individuals in Kerala after reports of about 100 cars being smuggled from Bhutan.
Officials said second-hand vehicles were allegedly imported and sold in India as new cars. Indian law bans such imports. Customs stated that any seized cars will be confiscated, and owners of these vehicles will face strict legal action.
