Mudassar Aziz’s directorial venture aimed to revive Akshay Kumar’s comedic role on screen. It has a promising ensemble of stars that includes Akshay Kumar, Vaani Kapoor, Tapsee Pannu, Pragya Jaiswal, Aditya Seal and Ammy Virk. The film also brings Fardeen Khan back to big screens after 14 years. But unfortunately the project was brutally overshadowed by Stree 2 that is making a massive box office impact. Even John Abraham’s Vedaa took a leap forward Khel Khel Mein by doing decently at the theatres.
The major issue with Akshay’s film continues to remain the same; it is a semi-cooked formulaic comedy film. It heavily depends on the fame of the stars involved but the storyline and performances remain mediocre. It promised too much in the trailer but fans believe that it relies on repeating tropes. Akshay’s box office career as well as the critical reception has been on a disastrous streak. His last release Sarfira, inspite of its social value, did not impress the fan and we see his screen presence degrading badly.
After the brutal failure of Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan, Akshay seemed to have realise his mistakes yet we see no corrections. His oversaturated presence on screen has bored the audiences, the script choice continue to remain terrible and his performance lacks nuance even in the comedy role which is supposed to be his much celebrated forte. Fans are only wishing for a comeback that can entertain them like the good old days. We can just hope that Akshay brings a well thought out project for the fans and put in much needed efforts to make a lasting impact once again! Stay tuned for more updates.
