A video has resurfaced on the internet of the actress where she is seen mentioning that her birth year is 1988; however, some fans found out that Google still lists her birth year as 1990, placing her at 34.

Social media users were quick to speculate that Kirti might actually be lying on both instances and is in reality almost 37 or 38. The debate has started a larger conversation about why Bollywood actresses often hide or tweak their age.
Some pointed out that the industry often links youth to relevance, especially for women. While male actors in their late 50s still play the romantic leads, actresses start getting irrelevant once they enter their late 30s.
