Case in point is the Telugu film Gharshana (Original Agni Natchathiram in Tamil) by Mani Ratnam which came out originally in 1988 and was a complete hit at the box office. Presently director Bejoy Nambiar of Wazir fame has bought the rights to remake this film in Hindi and is slogging away to come up with a great script. The casting has not been done yet and will be decided upon the completion of the script.

Despite the ambitious project and the big hopes riding on it, the question remains whether the audience of today will accept this film. Considering that the viewer perception has changed a lot since 1980s as well as the failure of the remake of Chiranjeevi’s Tagore remake in Bollywood, the success of this film remains to be seen!
