Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming directorial Love & War has become the subject of intense speculation in Bollywood circles. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. Recent buzz suggests the film may not release in 2026 due to extensive post production work.
Several media reports claim the action drama is stuck due to complex aerial action sequences that require heavy visual effects. The scale of these sequences has reportedly extended the post production timeline beyond initial expectations.
Love & War was first announced for a Christmas 2025 release. After missing that window, it was pushed to January 2026, then Eid 2026, and later the August 15 Independence Day slot. These repeated changes added to the uncertainty around its release plan.
An exclusive report by Pinkvilla recently claimed the film has been postponed to 2027. The report suggested a possible Republic Day or Valentine’s Day release. This further fuelled speculation about delays.
Other reports stated that principal photography may continue until June 2026. This would leave limited time for editing and VFX work. Such timelines raised doubts about a 2026 theatrical release.
However, these claims were strongly denied by sources close to the production. Outlets like Hindustan Times, Mid Day, Koimoi, and Bollywood Hungama reported that the film remains on track for a 2026 release. They confirmed that the recent shooting schedule has been completed.
Another reason cited for a possible delay was a clash with Ramayana Part 1, starring Ranbir Kapoor and slated for Diwali 2026. While the possibility of overlap exists, the makers have neither confirmed nor denied this concern.
If Love & War opts for an early 2026 release, such as March, Eid, or August, it could avoid major clashes. Fans are eager to see the trio under Bhansali’s direction. However, the absence of a final release date is testing audience patience.
