Having spent a hundred crores on the film, what Manikarnika has collected on its first day stayed below the mark leaving the makers in a disappointment. The film which had a release over 3000 screens has earned about 8 crores on its first day.
If we consider the film being a female-driven project, the collections are not so bad. In that category, Manikarnika stood the top five most collected films of Bollywood that are women-centric. Well, amongst that falls the same heroine, Kangana’s Tanu Weds Manu which took the second place. But the 100 crores budget mark is what making the earnings look low.
For the film to draw back the investment, the first day’s collections should have been double the figure. For the film has only shown a disappointing response at most of the cities in the North, it is hard for the film to get back what it may have merited.
