Ramayana: Will Ranbir Survive MK’s Brutal Trolling?

Mukesh Khanna on Ranbir Ramayana casting

Mukesh Khanna, known for his outspoken remarks, has now taken aim at Ranbir Kapoor’s casting in Ramayana. After his recent criticism of Ranveer Singh over the Shaktiman role, Khanna has shifted focus to the upcoming mythological epic.

Ranbir is already facing online backlash for portraying Lord Ram, with many believing he lacks the temperament for the role. His intense and violent screen image from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal remains fresh in public memory, fuelling scepticism.

Khanna argues that playing Lord Ram requires calmness and dignity. He said the film wrongly depicts Lord Ram leaping between trees and firing arrows, claiming such portrayals are historically inaccurate and misrepresent his composed nature.

Highlighting Lord Ram’s title of “Maryada Purushottam,” Khanna stressed that the character embodied maturity and goodwill, qualities he feels Ranbir does not project convincingly. He criticised the project’s approach and questioned the casting choice entirely.

Some netizens dismissed Khanna’s remarks, saying he targets celebrities to stay in the news. The real test will come when Ramayana releases on Diwali 2026, revealing whether his doubts about Ranbir’s suitability hold any weight.
