Param Sundari has finally hit the theatres after releasing two lovely songs that reminded many of the 90s. The excitement was high, especially with its vibe being compared to Chennai Express and Two States, but with a modern twist.
Now that it’s out, fans have taken to social media to share their mixed reactions to this romantic drama. Some say it’s even better than the Chennai Express pairing of Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan, while others strongly disagree.
A section of viewers feel the film is just a simplified South Indian version made easy for the North Indian audience. Many had concerns after watching the trailer, especially regarding how South Indians would be portrayed.
Sadly, for them, those concerns have come true. Several viewers feel the film leans heavily on stereotypes and ends up looking like a Kerala tourism ad targeted at clueless North Indian viewers.
While the movie aimed to entertain, many felt it lacked spark. The humour fell flat for some, and the writing didn’t offer much freshness. Only a few jokes really worked.
Though Sid and Janhvi gave decent performances and the music added some charm, the overall tone felt basic. At times, it even came across as loud and overdone.
Janhvi’s role, in particular, left many disappointed. Her South Indian accent didn’t sit well with several viewers, and the character felt underdeveloped.
Despite high hopes due to the star cast, issues like the noticeable age gap between the leads and their lack of chemistry, which fans had pointed out since the trailer, still stood out.
It seems like the audience’s early worries weren’t wrong after all.
What do you think of Param Sundari?
