Deepika Padukone has made headlines recently following reports that she is no longer part of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film Spirit. She is reportedly being replaced by Triptii Dimri.
While there is no official clarification on whether she left the film or was removed, social media users have shared mixed reactions to the news.
Many commented that Vanga shouldn’t have replaced Deepika with someone not as popular as Triptii, while others defended the decision, pointing out that Triptii was part of his previous film—which performed well—making it a smart move to work with her again.
Some of Deepika’s fans feel she should have adapted to Vanga’s vision for a surefire hit.
Given Vanga’s previous blockbusters like Animal and Kabir Singh, which helped actors like Shahid Kapoor, Kiara Advani, Ranbir Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, and Bobby Deol regain momentum in their careers, fans believe letting go of Spirit was a mistake on Deepika’s part.
However, many also unanimously agree that dropping Spirit wasn’t her worst decision—it was taking on the role of Shakti Shetty in Singham Again last year that dented her image as a credible actress.
Fans have labeled it her most “troll-worthy” and “stupid” role to date, claiming it will go down in history as the weakest point in her career.
According to many, working with Vanga on Spirit could have been her best shot at a strong comeback and reclaiming the top spot she once held.
Now, it will be interesting to see how Deepika redeems herself and regains the stature she once had.
She has a cameo in SRK’s King, then Allu Arjun’s film with Atlee—where it’s unclear how much scope she will have as an actress, given that the film features Allu Arjun in multiple roles.
She also has Kalki 2 and Pathaan 2 lined up.
