Siddharth Anand on films and sequels

Siddharth Anand has become one of the top action directors in India today. Although he began his career with romantic films, his shift to action started in 2013 with Bang Bang. Since then, he has built a strong name in the genre.

Recently, he completed 20 years in the film industry. In an interview with Himesh Mankad from Pinkvilla, Siddharth reflected on his journey and defined success as having the freedom to make the kind of films he truly wants.

He recalled how, in his early years, he made rom-coms like Ta Ra Rum Pum, Bachna Ae Haseeno, and Anjaana Anjaani. Later, he moved to action with Bang Bang, Pathaan, and Fighter. He even shared his wish to return to rom-coms someday.

Siddharth has created several successful action films like Bang Bang, War, Pathaan, and Fighter. While all have potential for sequels, he admitted he has not yet found stories that inspire him enough to carry those characters forward into franchises.

He explained that he does not want to rely on sequels for safety or comfort. Instead, he prefers creating new characters that audiences connect with. At a time when franchises dominate the industry, Siddharth stands apart by following his own path.
