Sooraj Barjatiya and Salman Khan have created Bollywood classics like Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun…! and Hum Saath Saath Hain. Recently, the filmmaker revealed the difficulties of planning a new project with the superstar at this stage of his career.
Barjatiya shared that he once considered making an action film with Salman, but the project was shelved. He explained that creating a fresh and relevant role for Salman, given his age and current stardom, is one of the biggest challenges he faces as a director.
Audiences online praised Barjatiya’s honesty, appreciating his commitment to quality rather than cashing in on Salman’s star power. Many also pointed out that Salman’s recent films like Tiger 3, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, and Sikandar have disappointed fans and failed at the box office.
Barjatiya added that setbacks happen in everyone’s life, but since Salman is a celebrity, his struggles draw more attention. Critics, however, argue that Salman’s real strength lies beyond action, in family entertainers that made him a superstar in the first place.
For now, the much-awaited reunion will take time. Sooraj Barjatiya is working on his next family drama Prem Ki Shaadi, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari, while Salman has started shooting for The Battle of Galwan with director Apoorva Lakhia.
