Anurag Basu has recently shared fresh insights about his upcoming romantic film starring Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela. Contrary to speculation, he clarified that the female lead in his untitled movie is not suffering from dementia, a claim that arose following the storyline of Saiyaara, where Aneet Padda’s character battled Alzheimer’s.
The confusion began because many believed Anurag’s project was treading a similar path. However, Anurag was quick to mention that he already knew Saiyaara’s storyline even before its release and ensured his film would not echo those themes. He also acknowledged that Saiyaara’s director, Mohit Suri, once narrated the entire story to him, further preventing any overlap in concepts.
Though the core plot of Anurag’s film remains under wraps, insiders say the story will take a completely different emotional turn. It reportedly explores unique experiences and emotional layers that weren’t seen in Saiyaara, aiming to present something fresh for audiences.
Production of the film is still underway, with Anurag confirming that 40% of the shoot is completed. The next filming schedule is expected between August and September. Due to lead actor Kartik Aaryan’s commitment to another film, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, which demands a different look, the release won’t happen this Diwali as initially planned.
Despite delays, the creative team believes this strategic pause might actually benefit the film, especially considering the strong impression left by Saiyaara. However, early promotional material has led some to think it might resemble films like Aashiqui 2.
That said, Anurag is confident that the screenplay and storytelling approach will set it apart. For now, fans will need to wait for the trailer to gain a clearer picture of the emotional landscape this film plans to explore.
