Horror comedy films have a separate fanbase among the public. In today’s time when action and biographies have failed to impress the audience, the films in the horror comedy genre have somehow helped to keep Bollywood in the spotlight.
Notably, this particular genre was popular in Hollywood a few years ago. But it slowly started to grow up in Bollywood with Stree in 2018. It led to the formation of the Maddock Supernatural Universe, where unique concepts, with a few being inspired by real-life events, were loved by the public.
Meanwhile, after a long wait of six years, Stree 2 is finally ready to hit the big screen on August 15, 2024. Despite clashing with Vedaa and Khel Khel Mein, it is expected to become a profitable venture when it comes to the North audience.
While the upcoming sequel is in the headlines for high ticket rates, it is trending on social media again since netizens have alleged that the poster is copied from the Netflix show, Stranger Things. Users have specifically compared the poster for the second season of the series with Stree 2, where characters are standing in similar positions.
Apart from this, netizens stated that the graphics used in the poster were also looking the same. The same things were said for the title card where the number 2 appeared in the background with red color. At the same time, a section of the public even came out in support of Stree 2, saying that it was a minor issue.
The allegations of copying Stranger Things’ poster might not be a serious trouble for the film. Ticket sales for the film have been decent so far and it is expected to take a huge opening.
We have witnessed similar situations in the past where posters of certain films have been accused of copying someone else. But this might not be intentional and could be a coincidence. The same can be said for Stree 2 and considering the reputation of Maddock Supernatural Universe, audiences are only expecting entertainment.
Nothing much can be said for now about the opening day collections. The ticket rates might be a common problem for everyone now since the starting price has been Rs. 300 in most of the places. But this does not mean that there is no hype for Stree 2. Now it remains to be seen if Stree 2 will repeat the success of the first part.
