Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi are reportedly set to reunite for Jaat 2, bringing back their iconic collaboration after 23 years. While the title may sound amusing to some, the filmmaker attached to the project is a serious powerhouse.
Jaat became a surprise mass entertainer, winning audiences with action, emotion, humour, and Sunny Deol’s signature screen presence. The first film was directed by Gopichand Malineni, who is now busy with his next Telugu film starring Nandamuri Balakrishna.
With the sequel officially in development, sources say Rajkumar Santoshi is the top choice to direct Jaat 2. Fans are excited about the possibility of the vintage Ghatak, Damini, Ghayal duo returning for another explosive entertainer.
The makers reportedly feel Santoshi understands Sunny’s heroism and audience better than anyone. His emotional depth, action sensibilities, and mass appeal make him a strong pick to elevate the franchise. Jaat revived single screens across India, and the team hopes the sequel will carry forward the same magic.
Initially, Sriram Aditya was expected to direct the film, but reports suggest Sunny may have brought Santoshi back instead. Fans are now waiting to see if this reunion will deliver old-school Bollywood energy and crowd-pleasing moments once again.
However, there are doubts as well. Santoshi’s last movie, Bad Boy (2023), did not perform well. Some viewers wonder whether he can recreate the magic that once made fans cheer, whistle and celebrate Sunny’s hero persona on screen.
Sequels can be risky, and success will depend on strong content. Even with big names attached, audiences expect engaging storytelling. All eyes are now on Jaat 2 to see whether it becomes another roaring mass blockbuster.
