Maddock Films has started developing a sequel to Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. Reports confirmed by Pinkvilla suggest that the project is in early stages. The story is expected to continue from where the first film ended.
The script is currently in progress and is likely to be completed by August. The romantic comedy is aiming to begin production in the first quarter of next year. However, details about the storyline are still under wraps.
The first film performed decently at the box office. Its trailer created strong hype, and Kriti Sanon’s role as a robot attracted family audiences. The unique concept played a key role in drawing attention to the film.
The sequel will mark another collaboration between Dinesh Vijan’s banner and actors Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. The pair will also be seen together in Cocktail 2, which is scheduled for release in June this year.
Industry insiders say the response to Cocktail 2 may influence the sequel’s timeline. Although a glimpse was shown alongside Dhurandhar: The Revenge in theatres, it has not generated significant buzz among audiences.
Trade experts have raised concerns about Shahid Kapoor’s box office pull. They cited the performance of films like Devaa and O’Romeo. Critics feel he should focus on strong scripts instead of relying on sequels at this stage.
Budget is another key concern for the project. Some believe Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya 2 should be made within Rs. 50 crores to ensure recovery. Others feel Kriti Sanon’s screen presence could still attract audiences.
With ample time before production begins, the makers have room to refine the project. It remains to be seen whether Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya 2 can match expectations and deliver a successful sequel.
