Dhanush’s Film in 84 Cr Legal Trouble: Who’s Behind It?

Dhanush in Tere Ishk Mein film

Dhanush’s Bollywood film Tere Ishk Mein, directed by Aanand L Rai, released in theatres on November 28 and turned into a major box office success. The film reportedly collected around 180 crores worldwide, strengthening its position as one of the biggest hits of the year.

Amid this success, speculation has emerged that Eros International has filed a lawsuit against Aanand L Rai and the makers of Tere Ishk Mein. The company is reportedly seeking compensation of 84 crores over the film being promoted as a sequel to Raanjhanaa.

Tere Ishk Mein was positioned as a standalone film, sharing only the soul of Raanjhanaa through Murari Gupta’s character, played by Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub. However, the team projected it as part of the Raanjhanaa universe, which has now led to legal concerns.

The announcement video also stated that the core plot exists within the Raanjhanaa universe. This promotional angle appears to be central to the legal dispute, as Eros International holds rights connected to the earlier film.

Following reports of the lawsuit, several netizens have reacted strongly online. Many have accused Eros International of acting with a money-minded approach, especially since the case surfaced only after the film became a massive commercial success.

Questions are also being raised about the timing of the legal action. Since Raanjhanaa references were used from the first announcement, the delay in filing the claim has puzzled many observers.

For now, it remains unclear how the makers will respond to the lawsuit. It is also uncertain whether Tere Ishk Mein will proceed with its planned OTT release on Netflix on January 23 without disruption.
