Sreeleela-Kartik Desperate: Troublesome Director?

Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela in Tu Meri Zindagi Hai

Anurag Basu is once again in the news for his habit of reshooting films. His upcoming musical romance Tu Meri Zindagi Hai, starring Kartik Aaryan and marking Sreeleela’s Hindi debut, has dropped 10 full days of completed footage for major reshoots.

The official reason is to give Kartik a “fresh look,” but industry insiders see this as a familiar Anurag Basu pattern. From Barfi! to the long-delayed Jagga Jasoos, and even Life in a… Metro and In Dino, his pursuit of perfection has often extended production schedules and reshaped projects.

Earlier rumoured to be Aashiqui 3, the film now has a confirmed title and a new release date — May 1, 2026, instead of Diwali 2025. Backed by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series, the project promises a rich musical experience, something both the director and the studio are known for.

For Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela, this film means more than a creative venture. It’s designed as a grand romantic musical that could define their pairing in Bollywood. But every delay raises expectations — and pressure — for a film meant to balance emotion, music, and scale.

In an era of fast OTT releases, long reshoots can test audience patience. Still, filming continues with a renewed vision. Whether Tu Meri Zindagi Hai becomes the soulful hit Kartik and Sreeleela need or joins Basu’s list of beautiful but delayed works remains to be seen.
