Salman To Taapsee: No Future for These Unreleased Films?

Unreleased Hindi films awaiting release

Some films arrive with a bang, dominate conversations for a few weeks, and disappear quietly. Others take a very different route.

In recent years, a number of Hindi films have entered this strange phase where everything seems ready on paper.

As of August 20, 2026, several Hindi films continue to exist in this uncertain space.

These projects have managed to stay in the Bollywood conversation despite having no confirmed route to theatres or streaming platforms.

Silaa is one of the biggest examples of this unusual situation.

Directed by Omung Kumar, the film has remained visible among fans because of its cast and genre appeal.

IMDb currently lists Silaa as a 2026 Hindi romantic action drama in post production, featuring Harshvardhan Rane, Sadia Khateeb and Karan Veer Mehra.

However, behind the excitement, Silaa has reportedly faced production challenges.

The film involved more than four producers, yet it is still awaiting completion due to budget-related issues.

A similar wave of curiosity surrounds Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace.

The film became a major talking point after rumours related to CBFC approval started circulating.

However, Salman Khan Films later issued a clarification in July 2026, stating that the film had not yet been submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification and that reports suggesting otherwise were false.

The clarification moved the focus back to the bigger question, when will the film actually be ready for audiences?

Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace had earlier been planned for an April 17, 2026 release, but that timeline changed.
The younger generation of actors also has films caught in this uncertain phase.

Laikey Laikaa gained attention because of its pairing of Abhay Verma and Rasha Thadani.

The Phantom Studios-backed project is listed by IMDb as a 2026 title in post production, directed by Saurabh Gupta.

The film was shot around a year ago, and a few portions were reportedly reshot earlier this year.

Despite that, the project has struggled to find a buyer.

Abhay Verma is also connected with another delayed project, JC, also known as Jacob Cardoso.

Directed by Shujaat Saudagar, the film features him alongside Shanaya Kapoor.

The makers were reportedly exploring a direct to digital release, but the project still has no buyer and no clear release plan.

Pankaj Tripathi and Aditi Rao Hydari starrer Paarivarik Manoranjan completed its shoot in Lucknow more than a year ago.

The film was shot in June 2025, but it remains stuck because the makers have not found a buyer in the current market.
Taapsee Pannu’s Gandhari is another interesting case.

The upcoming action thriller and revenge drama features Taapsee as a powerful mother on a mission to rescue her child.
However, an official release date has still not been announced.

The film reportedly went into reshoot mode because of creative differences, and those issues appear to be unresolved.

Arjun Rampal and Priyamani’s crime thriller Blind Game is also waiting for a clear release path.

Sanjay Mishra and Neeraj Sood’s Pritam Pyaare has been waiting even longer.

Produced by Aamir Khan, the film has remained unreleased for more than three years.

In an industry where every Friday brings new releases, these unreleased films have created their own shadow existence.

Their stories are no longer only about what happens on screen, but also about everything happening behind the scenes.
