Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari released in theatres on October 2, 2025, alongside Kantara: Chapter 1. Both films are performing decently, but many questioned why the makers chose to release it against a massive film like Kantara.
Varun Dhawan, who stars in SSKTK, addressed the issue. He revealed that Diwali was one of the initial release options, but the date was shifted. The team wanted a fair window of 2–3 weeks without direct competition.
Varun explained that releasing on Diwali would have clashed with Thamma, produced by his close friend Dinesh Vijan and backed by Karan Johar. To avoid competing with friends, the film settled for a Dussehra release instead.
He also said that Dussehra was a strong release period, offering SSKTK a better chance to attract audiences. Netizens, however, believe Diwali could have given the film a stronger start, with some saying its content is better than Thamma.
While Kantara is winning hearts across India, SSKTK is holding its ground. Audiences now wait to see how both films perform over the coming weeks and which one finishes stronger at the box office by the end of their run.
