War 2 was expected to give Junior NTR a strong launch in the Hindi market, but the results did not live up to the hopes. Despite having Hrithik Roshan in the lead and Ayan Mukerjee directing, the film failed to match expectations.
The movie struggled at the Hindi box office, which was NTR’s main goal, and the outcome has been disappointing. During its extended opening weekend, War 2 collected around ₹121 crore nett in Hindi. The film showed a better hold on Sunday than expected, which helped the numbers slightly.
For a project backed by two superstars like NTR and Hrithik Roshan, this performance is quite ordinary. Audiences had high expectations, but the film is now heading towards being declared a flop, which is a setback for everyone involved.
The weak word of mouth and lack of interest in the spy universe theme worked against War 2. Junior NTR ended up spending valuable time at the peak of his career on a project that has not delivered as intended.
His plan to capture the Hindi market and become a familiar face there has not succeeded as expected. Even if War 2 manages to touch ₹200 crore nett in Hindi, it will not be enough to change the final verdict.
