Director Debunks Dune Three Speculations?

Denis Villeneuve

The desert planet is at its peak now, “Dune Part Two” grossed over $500M worldwide. This was a very highly anticipated movie. The much awaited patience of the Dune fans was worth it. Released on March 1st 2024, “Dune Part Two” is still ruling the theaters.

Based on Frank Herbert’s 1965 sci fi novel “Dune”, the movie follows the great house of Caladan, “Atreides”. And how the main character Paul, finds out the truth about himself and the planet. The movie can be watched as a pure food to imagination and can serve as a great action movie. But, if you delve deep into it. The pure philosophy behind it is mesmerizing. Part Two brought out the philosophical aspect very beautifully.

But, rumours has it that Denis Villeneuve will work on the 2nd book in the series and that is “Dune Messiah”. Denis declared that if he is of to make “Part Three” of Dune then it will be grander than “Part Two”. Because, he believes that Dune Part Two is much better than Dune Part One. Although i personally feel that, both the movies have completely different elements to fall in love with.

Dune Part One, was more of an introduction to the audience for the grand setting of “Dune Part Two”.

Although, the original plan was to make a trilogy, and Denis said in a interview that he is working on the screenplay of “Dune Messiah”. With the special appearance of Anya Taylor Joy as “Alia Atreides”, fans can expect the part three. Because, he left the movie with the note that, “Paul declared war against the great houses”. But, in the novel, the ending was more subtle, in the beginning of the novel “Dune Messiah” the readers get to know that Paul declared war.

With that being said, i think the ride of the sand worm is still not done yet.
