The desert planet ascended again. The sequel of the 2021 Sci Fi movie “Dune” directed by Denis Villeneuve, and an adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel “Dune” grossed $1 Billion globally .
This was possible because of its successful 4th week. Dune was a much awaited sequel, as in interviews Denis declared that he made the first part just as an “appetiser”, the real deal is the sequel, because every event takes place in the send half.
From 2021 Dune became a part of Herbert’s long legacy. In comparison with David Lynch’s 1984 “Dune” movie, apart from the cinematic improvement, Denis used his own interpretation in the movie as well. Which made this movie even a better experience for the first time viewers.
The sequel earned over $17.5 million domestically, and from 73 overseas markets it earned $30 million from. The budget of the movie was just $190M and it is targeting to achieve $700M making it a life time achievement.
Starring Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Austin Butler and Florence Pugh, this movie follows the last living heir of the Atreides family ‘Paul’. Although, to put it simply the movie is about two feuding families Harkannon and Atreides, who wants to rule the planet Arrakis. Based on this plot revolves around Paul, who was on the right place at the right time.
The actors and actresses of the movie declared that, if there comes a “Part Three” they are more than willing to take a part in the movie. “Denis provided us with a very secure and safe place to work in” said by Zendaya. The director said in an interview that if he makes another part it will be much greater than “Part two”.
Rumors has it, that Denis Villeneuve is working on the screenplay for “Dune Messiah”. With that said, the success of “Dune Part Two” is towering high with each passing weeks. Let’s not wish for the Cryst Knife to chip and shatter.
