The cast of “High and Low,” a reimagining of the classic thriller by Akira Kurosawa, now includes Jeffrey Wright. Ilfenesh Hadera and Denzel Washington star in Spike Lee’s flick. The English-language version centres on a wealthy guy attempting to stop a kidnapping.
This month marks the start of production on the Apple Original Films. Todd Black for Escape Artists and Jason Michael Berman for Mandalay Pictures will produce the movie. Through his 40 Acres And A Mule Filmworks, Lee will function as executive producer; additional executive producers include Peter Guber, Matthew Lindner, Chris Brigham, and Katia Washington.
Todd Black and Jason Michael Berman will produce “The Equaliser” for Escape Artists and Mandalay Pictures. Peter Guber will serve as executive producer, and Lee will serve as director. Lee and Washington have collaborated on five films together, having previously worked on “Mo’ Better Blues,” “He Got Game,” “Inside Man,” and “Malcolm X.”
Nominated for an Oscar for outstanding actor, Washington previously collaborated with Apple on “The Tragedy of Macbeth.” Starring in the movie is Christopher Wright, who has acted in television shows including HBO’s “Westworld,” “Basquiat,” “Shaft,” “The French Dispatch,” “No Time to Die,” and “The Batman.” Strategic PR, CAA, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman Wertheimer Mandelbaum Morris Bernstein Trattner & Klein are Wright’s legal representatives.
