Spider-Man is one of the most popular comic book characters before and after the MCU. Even when MCU movies are not doing well, Spider-Man movies, be it live-action or animated, have performed well at the box office and passed the critics’ scrutiny.
If an actor is offered the role, it is a big deal given how it affects one’s career, Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield are proof of that.
Even the animated versions have had famous Hollywood names to voice over the characters. One such name is Nicolas Cage, who gave his voice to one of the many versions of the beloved character in Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. He voiced Spider-Man Noir.
That was in 2018 and since then there has not been much news about the character appearing in movies or getting a dedicated show for himself.
Now, the rumours are going around that Sony and Amazon are serious about creating a series on Noir and that Nicolas Cage is in talks with them to play the role.
The show is supposed to be set in NYC during the 1930s following the original timeline in the comics. But, what may strike as strange is the age gap, because Noir and most of the versions of Spider-Man are teenagers/school going but Cage just turned sixty last month. It would be interesting to see how Sony would fit him in the role.
There is no confirmation from Sony or Amazon Prime Video on the news, so fans may have to hold their excitement for a while.
