Shameful! Only Adjective For Madame Web’s BO

MADAME WEB

The Marvel superhero film Madame Web has not been as popular as its predecessors and has received negative reviews. With a $52 million worldwide debut, the movie maintained its top weekend expectations despite its poor box sales and Rotten Tomatoes assessment.

The time of year and the arrival of Legendary/Warner Bros.’ Dune gang—Zendaya, Austin Butler, Timothee Chalamet, and Florence Pugh—supposed to sever Madame Web’s legs—are credited with the film’s success. Still, the movie isn’t the worst Marvel spinoff in terms of box office receipts or Rotten Tomatoes rating.

With a $15.9 million weekend total, the 2005 Daredevil spinoff Elektra, which debuted at 11% also enjoyed success. Hollywood still makes female superhero movies like Wakanda Forever, Captain Marvel, and Wonder Woman, even if fanboys don’t like them.

Madame Web, a Sony/Marvel picture, has done around $26 million ($25.8 million) in box office business globally, exceeding pre-weekend projections. Given Sony’s foreign TV production arrangements and its Netflix deal, the loss is unsurprising despite a $51.5 million global launch.

The film has received a C+ CinemaScore, a 1 1/2 star rating on PostTrak, and an audience score of 54% on Rotten Tomatoes. At the moment, Imax and PLFs are providing 35% of the movie’s revenue, with Imax screens bringing in $3.1M. The South, Central, and West are Madame Web’s best markets.
