Furiosa:

Nostalgia is beating dystopia. The Warner Bros high budget prequel “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga”, is now facing the new Garfield movie.

Each movie has generated roughly $25 million over the weekend and an estimated $31 million through Monday. Both studios are reporting that its own movie has ranked No. 1.

It feels like the lazy cat is giving a tough fight against our suited warrior.

But, for the box office it is yet another turn down.

with recent would-be blockbusters like “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” with a $58 million debut, these openings are yet another turn down.

Right now the cinemas are unable to hold the audience, but we have a ray of hope with Deadpool and Wolverine, Despicable Me 4 and Inside Out 2, and we can hope that these movies will change the dynamic of the cinemas.

Senior Comscore analyst Paul Dergarabedian said , “No matter how you slice it, this was not a rip-roaring holiday weekend for theatres.”

“Furiosa” collected an additional $33.3 million at the international box office for a global tally of $58.9 million; the movie hasn’t received much praise from the critics.

On the other hand the Garfield movie is growing dear to the audience, as people are finding it fresh and nostalgic and it is 37% fresh in Rotten Tomatoes.

Now it’s a matter of time where we have to wait and watch which movie exceeds the expectations.
