40 Cr has sort of become a psychological mark for Telugu cinema movies, where by crossing it becomes the first sign of minimal acceptability among the audience. We have seen how many biggies in last year even after mind blowing openings failed to cross this mark, indicating the weak talk.
Gopala Gopala which opened few days before the Sankranthi festival has now become the first movie of 2015 to cross this elusive mark. The film opened with a bang but slowed down considerably before the festive season making many doubt if it could cross this mark. But the film picked up once again during the holidays and now post holidays, it is holding up well at average levels taking the film past 40 Cr.
This is the third Pawan Kalyan film to cross this mark and second one for Venkatesh. In case of the latter both the films were multi-star cast. Still the film is not a clean hit and it needs to cross 45 Cr to be termed one. The journey for hit status has now begin, we have to wait and see if it reaches that mark or not.
