Prabhas‘ devotional magnum opus Adipurush is surprisingly faring better in the Hindi version than in the original Telugu version. The holds in the Northern Territories are stronger than in the Telugu states.
Despite severe criticism and a section of Hindutva-driven extremists calling for a ban, Adipurush is displaying strong legs at the Indian box office.

The middle-class tolerant Hindu audiences seem to have taken a liking to Om Raut’s retelling of Ramayana and are coming in hordes to watch the film.
After a fantastic first-day collection of around Rs. 37 crores in the Hindi version, the film collected 35-36 crores again on its second day as well.

Usually, films grow on Saturday, but Adipurush opened huge on the first day, and it has maintained the collections on its second day with a negligible drop which is heartening for its makers.
The bookings for Sunday are huge, and most probably, it will cross 40 crores on its third day, taking the weekend total to over 110 crores in Hindi. The film is doing extraordinary business in Uttar Pradesh (the Ayodhya factor is working big time), Punjab, Bihar, and Maharashtra.

The first week is sure to cross 160 crores and will sail through the 200 crore mark by the end of the second week. Adipurush is looking at a lifetime of around 220-225 crore net in Hindi.
After the negative response to the teaser, many expected Adipurush to open around ten crores and wrap up its lifetime below 100 crores. Now the film will easily sail past the 200-crore mark, which was unimaginable a few weeks ago.
But the sad part is that the film would have even crossed Rs. 500 crores just in Hindi if Om Raut made a much better film than it is now. The combo of Prabhas’ stardom and the Ramayana theme could have proven a jackpot for any maker. But Om Raut couldn’t make use of the full potential and delivered a Westernized, mediocre war-action film in the garb of Ramayana.
Despite earning over 200 crores, Adipurush will always be remembered as a missed and wasted opportunity.
