AIADMK which is part of the NDA alliance in Tamil Nadu for 2026 Assembly elections is now in the middle of a huge controversy. With elections nearing, looks like the leaders of Tamil Nadu are doing everything to slander each other.
After harmless comments by DMK chief and CM Stalin asking the Tamilians to dream, dream for their aspirations and that he would fulfill them, the AIADMK MP CV Shanmugam made some crass remarks during a public rally. The MP said and we quote – I want Nayantara, will you fulfill. I want to marry Nayantara. This was followed by whistles from the crowd and the MP appeared pretty pleased.
Goes without saying the comments have made national headlines and the national channels are appalled at the sexist comments made by the MP in the garb of a politician.
There is obviously a limit to counter an opposition leader’s simple comment. Twisting it and speaking unpardonable things in the name of politics is a social crime.
The DMK has responded by saying that hitting at them on political issues is alright. But making such irresponsible comments on a women-centric government is uncalled for. Their spokesperson said that strict action must be taken on the MP for dragging an actor into the picture.
But this is not the first time Shanmugam made such sexist remarks. Last October, he courted controversy by saying that Stalin will give free wife, talking about the freebies that DMK was giving to people.
The AIADMK has been blasting DMK saying that the safety of women in Tamil Nadu hit an all-time low. And in the process, the serial offender MP made these cheap comments dragging Nayantara‘s name.
Now, the Tamil citizens are demanding action against Shanmugam. They say Palaniswami must take action as this is not a small issue. Many feel the MP made such statement as his party is in alliance with the BJP. In fact, the Tamil citizens are demanding an apology from both parties.
