Akhanda 2: Thaandavam is the fourth film together for Nandamuri Balakrishna and director Boyapati Srinu. The movie released in theatres with huge expectations, but it did not meet financial targets in several areas, especially in Andhra Pradesh. Because of this, many distributors reportedly suffered heavy losses.
After the theatrical run, reports emerged that Netflix had bought the digital rights and planned to stream the film from January 9, 2026. This belief became stronger when the film’s title briefly appeared in Netflix’s in app search. However, Netflix never made any official announcement. Recently, the title disappeared from the app’s catalogue, and the search link stopped working, suggesting that the OTT release may have been delayed.
At the same time, internal discussions began with distributors who incurred losses. Andhra buyers reportedly informed Boyapati Srinu that even after the producers agreed to cover the GST amount, they were still facing nearly 50 percent losses. Boyapati assured them of support and asked his team to coordinate with distributor Mango Ram, who handled Andhra rights and has full clarity on collections and pending payments.
Because these financial issues are still unresolved, there is rumor that Netflix may have postponed the OTT premiere until matters are sorted out. However, there is no official confirmation yet from either Netflix or the makers. For now, the OTT release date of Akhanda 2 remains uncertain.
