Allu Arjun’s next big-screen outing may still be some distance away. His upcoming film Raaka, with Atlee, is said to be moving forward slowly, with industry reports suggesting that the production is yet to reach the halfway point. This has raised doubts about whether the ambitious project can meet its expected release timeline.
The makers are reportedly eyeing December 2027 for its theatrical arrival. However, the amount of work involved could make that target difficult to achieve. Atlee is said to be investing considerable time in getting the film’s technical aspects and visual effects right, given the scale he has planned.
On the other hand Makers have reportedly changed the location of an important action schedule. The sequences, originally planned in Dubai, are now expected to be filmed at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. The uncertainty surrounding the Middle East situation is said to have prompted the team to reconsider its overseas plans.
The shift could prove convenient for Allu Arjun, who has been making frequent trips between Hyderabad and Mumbai during the production. Several key cast members are also expected to participate in this action schedule. Another international shooting stint is reportedly on the cards after the Hyderabad leg.
Raaka has already generated considerable curiosity with its technical ambitions. Its motion-capture work created a record by capturing 37 performers simultaneously, earning recognition from Guinness World Records. Allu Arjun had earlier requested fans to give the team time, stressing that the makers are working towards delivering the best possible cinematic experience.
Mounted by Kalanithi Maran’s Sun Pictures, the sci-fi action spectacle features Deepika Padukone in the female lead role, with Rashmika Mandanna, Mrunal Thakur and Janhvi Kapoor also linked to the project. Sai Abhyankkar is composing the music.
With substantial filming reportedly still ahead and another overseas schedule planned, Raaka has a challenging road before reaching theatres. Whether Atlee can complete the film in time for its December 2027 target remains to be seen. The makers are yet to announce an official release date.
