November has been a slow month for the Telugu film industry. Several films released earlier in the month, but only a few managed to impress the audience. The overall performance at the box office has remained weak.
Mass Jathara, Jatadhara, Kaantha and others hit screens in early November. However, none of them could pull strong crowds to theatres. Revenues for Telugu films have stayed dull throughout the month.
Attention has now shifted to the final major release of November. Ram Pothineni’s Andhra King Taluka is set to release in theatres on 27 November. The film is expected to create some traction at the box office.
Ram sounded very confident during the promotions. But the key is to deliver a winning film, something he has struggled with in recent times. The audience is also waiting for strong entertainment.
If Andhra King can offer solid content, it has a good chance. There is a clear gap in the Telugu market right now, with viewers waiting for a reason to return to theatres. One good film can break the dry spell and put up big numbers.
The film must also earn most of its revenue in the first week. Nandamuri Balakrishna will arrive with Akhanda 2 on 5 December. A strong opening and a good weekend will be crucial for this Ram film.
