Several major Marvel stars have denied appearing in Avengers: Doomsday, ending months of speculation about their return. Still, fans remain doubtful, given Marvel Studios’ record of surprise cameos and secret castings.
Chris Evans confirmed that he is “happily retired” from the franchise and will not return as Captain America. Andrew Garfield gave a blunt “unequivocally f**king no” to GQ when asked about joining the project. Ryan Reynolds said he has not “stepped foot on set,” suggesting Deadpool will skip this chapter after Deadpool & Wolverine.
Charlie Cox has also ruled out any role, saying his attention is on Daredevil: Born Again. Halle Berry denied reports of her comeback as Storm, while Benedict Cumberbatch stated that Doctor Strange “does not align with this part of the story.” He will instead appear in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Marvel’s tight secrecy often leads actors to issue direct denials to avoid leaks. Past surprises make fans question every statement, as the studio is known for hiding cameos until release. Despite several absences, Avengers: Doomsday still features over twenty confirmed characters in a massive multiversal storyline.
The film releases on December 18, 2026. Until then, fans will keep guessing about unexpected returns. For now, many favourite heroes seem officially missing from this epic Marvel lineup.
