Being Part Of Singeetham Is Like Winning An Oscar For Me: DSP

DSP at Sing Geetham Event

Legendary director Singeetham Srinivasa Rao and Nag Ashwin have come together to bring a musical fantasy, Sing Geetham. Kamal Haasan attended the celebration of Singeetham event as special guest and his words showcased his love, respect for the legend. Ayaan, Ahilya and Shalini Kondepudi are playing leading roles in this masterful musical adventure.

Music director Devi Sri Prasad observed that while many people lose their spark over time, Singeetham, Kamal Haasan, and Ashwini Dutt have managed to preserve theirs throughout their remarkable careers. He also praised the writing team and described the film as one of the most exciting opportunities of his life.

DSP was particularly moved by Singeetham’s humility, noting that despite being a legendary filmmaker, he continues to approach cinema with the curiosity, passion, and enthusiasm of a child. When Singeetham remarked that DSP understood the subject better than anyone else and was the perfect choice for the film, the composer responded emotionally, saying, “Being part of this film is like winning an Oscar for me.”

Kamal said, “I met him when I was 21 and we discussed two ideas. He narrated this one and Advaita, which became Pushpak. I am glad that this idea is produced by Nag Ashwin and Vyjayanthi. I wish it was produced by Raaj Kamal but I feel like I am a co-producer for this one. Had I known about this film being on sets, I would have been among assistant directors standing on stage.”

He shared nostalgic moments between them. “We are passionate people first then business persons. Today’s cinema is going the other way but Singeetham has survived from 1957 Mayabazaar release to till date and his passion knows no boundaries. Hence, he is ageless and thanks to Nag Ashwin and team for bringing his idea to life. We figured out how to direct dwarf portions on the go in Apoorva Sahodagal and similarly, he would say he figured out musical fantasy with Sing Geetham. All I say to audiences is, Sing Along in Theatres,” summed up Kamal Haasan.

Singeetham Srinivasa Rao got every emotional and he stated it is his luck to meet Kamal Haasan and Nag Ashwin. He gave entire credit of the film to Ashwin and mentioned, “even though I own it as my idea, it is Nag Ashwin who respects and loves me more than cinema worked hard to bring it into a reality. I am indebted to him for making this dream come true.” Devi Sri Prasad is composing music for the film scheduled for 11th June release.
