Game Changer Director Shankar Event Canecelled Tamil Nadu

The much-anticipated Game Changer event scheduled for tomorrow in Chennai has been canceled. Sources suggest that the cancellation is linked to a dispute between Lyca Productions and Shankar.

While there are speculations that Lyca Productions might attempt to block the film’s release, experts believe their legal arguments are unlikely to succeed, and Game Changer is expected to release smoothly in Tamil Nadu on January 10th.

However, there is significant unrest among exhibitors in Tamil Nadu, who are unhappy with the performance of Lyca Productions’ recent films and their decision to delay Vidaamuyarchi, leaving a gap in the Pongal season.

If Lyca continues to interfere with Game Changer’s release, it could face strong backlash from these exhibitors.

Some Mega haters are claiming that the event’s cancellation is due to a lack of audience interest.

The USA distributor of Game Changer reportedly reluctant to include Tamil shows. Only five shows have been confirmed, with no IMAX premieres, which some see as a missed opportunity for the film’s potential in Tamil due to Shankar’s brand value.

The cancellation of the event could harm the film’s opening day collections in Tamil Nadu, as Shankar’s presence would have boosted the film’s visibility and hype, which is currently not that great in Tamil.

For Game Changer to recover its investment, it needs strong performance in Tamil markets.
