Big Star’s November Release Not Sold to OTT Yet

Tamil director Gautham Menon is familiar to Telugu audiences through popular works like “Ye Maaya Chesave.”

For this particular film, which he initiated with Suriya in 2013 but shelved due to differences, Gautham Menon revived the project in 2015 with Vikram.

However, from the start of filming, he faced a series of financial issues from his producer, eventually having to intervene with his own money, incurring high interest rates from his pocket.

In a candid interview with Baradwaj Rangan on YouTube, Menon openly discussed the legal battles between the producers.

However, the challenge extended to digital (OTT) platforms perceiving the film as old and dated. Convincing them was tough; Menon had to screen and pitch the film, assuring no lingering legal issues.

Typically, OTT platforms request around 30 minutes of the film, evaluate its combination value, and then finalize the deal. But, in the case of ‘Dhruva Natchathiram,’ he stated that it wasn’t easy to clear their doubts.

Gautham Menon is still pitching his film to few OTT platforms and hoping to close the deal before the release date.

“Dhruva Natchathiram” is slated for release on November 24. Its success is critical, considering the director’s years-long struggle, shouldering the film’s burden. A critical acclaim and a successful box office run are extremely crucial after everything Menon endured.
