Actress Kasthuri has been arrested in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. Tamil Nadu police took her into custody for making controversial remarks about the Telugu community.
The court recently rejected her anticipatory bail plea. The police are now taking her to Chennai.
Earlier, the Greater Chennai Police sent a team to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to find Kasthuri who was absconding.
On November 14, the Madras High Court denied her anticipatory bail. Justice Anand Venkatesh dismissed her plea. He called her comments “unwarranted” and said her apology was not enough.
Kasthuri’s remarks were made on November 3 at a Brahmin gathering in Chennai. She allegedly called Telugu people in Tamil Nadu “descendants of prostitutes.”
This caused a lot of anger, and an FIR was filed by the Naidu Mahajana Sangam State.
Kasthuri apologized on social media, claiming “fake news” was being spread. She blamed the “anti-Hindu DMK networks.”
Kasthuri had supported the BJP in the 2024 elections. After her comments, the Tamil Nadu BJP distanced itself from her.
