After scoring a blockbuster with his debut film Uppena, Buchi Babu landed a massive opportunity to direct pan-India star Ram Charan. However, the director has failed to meet expectations despite its strong box-office run.
The film is said to have collected around Rs 400 crore in its final run, but the numbers did not translate into much excitement among Mega fans. Despite Ram Charan’s efforts, the film has struggled to impress audiences, particularly in the Hindi, overseas and other language markets.
There is also talk in industry that Buchi Babu’s experience was not quite enough to handle a project of Peddi’s scale and expectations. Naturally, curiosity has now shifted towards Buchi Babu’s next project.
Interestingly, industry buzz suggests that the director is facing a tough time to attract another star hero this time around. Although the director approached a couple of Tier one heroes, no one is willing to work with him.
According to the latest talk, Buchi Babu is planning to go for a medium-range hero or even a relatively young actor for his next film. The idea, it seems, is to prove himself once again with a solid film before attempting another big-scale project with a star hero.
At this point, nothing is official regarding Buchi Babu’s next collaboration. However, the growing industry buzz has certainly made his next move one of the more closely watched developments in Tollywood.
