Apprehensions grew as the makers retained two leading ladies Madonna and Anupama Parameshwaran but replaced Shruti Haasan for Sai Pallavi. Now, Naga Chaitanya revealed the reason behind the choice of Shruti over Sai Pallavi.
Though Sai Pallavi was fantastic as Malar, they opined that Telugu audiences would prefer someone more glamorous for the role. Hence, Shruti Haasan was approached, who was excited as she never played such an understated role earlier.
Here, the makers had missed a point. Malayalam ‘Premam’ is liked by Telugu audiences as well without dubbing. Sai Pallavi’s name as Malar became so popular that the actress became equally popular without even making her debut in Telugu.
