Weekend BO: Kiran Strikes, What About Vijay?

Chennai Love Story leads Jana Nayagan Telugu box office

The Telugu box office had two mainstream films, arriving this weekend in the form of Chennai Love Story and Jana Nayagan. The good thing is that both these films could get off to a reasonably start in the Telugu states.

First, let us discuss the mainstream Telugu film Chennai Love Story. This film has Kiran above in the lead role, and it happens to be the biggest opener for him till now.

Reportedly the film has collected in the vicinity of ₹7 to ₹7.5 crore gross on the first day. This is the best opening for Kiran after his earlier film Ka had collected in the range of ₹6 crore gross on the opening day.

But the crucial challenge is going to be to sustain at the box office over the weekend with rather mixed Review and reactions that have emerged on the opening day. The positive thing is that other film Jana Nayagan failed miserably with early audience talk.

Coming to the Vijay film, it is being termed as one of the most repetitive commercial films in peace and tears, and it does not have much of a prospect going its way, except for Vijay stardom.

The film is holding well in Tamil Nadu, which was always expected to be the case, but considering that the Telugu audience had already watched Bhagwant Kesari, this poorly remade film doesn’t necessarily appease them.

As of 11 AM today, the Vijay film is selling in the range of 1.5 K tickets per hour. The Kiran Abbavaram film is selling more than 8.5 K tickets per hour. It appears that Chennai Love story will take the lead over the weekend and post relatively good revenues.
