More than ten days have passed since the release of Chikiri Chikiri from Peddi, yet its impact continues to dominate social media. Lakhs of reels have been created using the track, and its reach on Instagram shows how deeply the song has entered the public mood. Even hardcore AR Rahman fans did not expect such a massive chartbuster from him at this stage.
The Hindi version, in particular, shocked the producers and director Buchi Babu. They never imagined it would gain such strong nationwide attention. If the remaining songs and the trailer deliver similar impact, Peddi can surprise in the Hindi belts.
However, the success of Chikiri Chikiri has created an unexpected problem for other new releases. Any lyrical video released now is instantly compared to it. Songs from soon-to-be-released films like Andhra King Taluka and Akhanda 2 are decent, but their online reach has been slow. Many believe that if Rahman’s track had not created such a storm, these songs would have received better traction. People are in no mood to listen and appreciate other songs due to Chikiri hangover from Peddi which is still 4 months away from release.
Today, a song’s success is measured not just by YouTube views, which can be inflated, but by how many reels it generates. On that level, Chikiri Chikiri continues to dominate organically.
The Peddi team is now preparing to release the second song. However, they want to avoid clashing with the promotions of Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankar Vara Prasad Garu. The last week of December is under consideration for the next song release, though the final decision will be taken based on the situation then.
Many are also surprised that Buchi Babu, only in his second film, managed to bring out such addictive energy from Ram Charan. While a big director like Shankar could not fully tap into Charan’s charm in Game Changer, Buchi Babu has captured his effortless screen presence brilliantly.
Going by the early response to the song and the overall buzz, Peddi is expected to do well on a pan India level too.
