Star heroes are the ones that pull the masses and the larger section of the audience to the theatres. It is essential that the likes of Jr NTR, Prabhas, Allu Arjun, Mahesh Babu, Ram Charan, and others have timely releases and their releases are spread evenly across the year. Especially so in the post-Covid era when pulling the audience to theatres is a tough task.
Incidentally, 2023 looks set off to a sedate start as there are not many big hero releases in the first half of the year.
Barring senior heroes – Balakrishna and Chiranjeevi who are coming next Sankranthi with Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya respectively, there aren’t any star hero films for the entire first half of 2023.
As of now, Mahesh Babu and Trivikram’s SSMB28 is announced for release on 28 April. But the film’s shoot is getting delayed and the unit has shot only one schedule till now. Wrapping the pending work and releasing the film by next April is near impossible.
Prabhas’s Adipurush is pushed to June. Ram Charan’s RC15 is halted with Shankar resuming Indian 2. Allu Arjun and NTR are yet to take Pushpa 2 and NTR30 onto the floors. Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu’s release plan is unclear for now.
Star hero films enjoy great hype and they evoke intrigue amongst all sections of the audience. Not having a single star hero film for the first half of 2023 is a disappointment as these small and mid-range films stutter to bring all sections of the audience to the big screens.
