Delhi Shut Down: Will RRR Take 100 Cr Loss And Hit Theaters?

Delhi Shut Down: Will RRR Take 100 Cr Loss And Hit Theaters?Only yesterday, many were updated that it would be an open ground for RRR as a January Hindi biggie is unlikely to hit cinemas on the announced date. A day later, it is now confirmed that another significant movie won’t be hitting theatres. And they have a solid reason to not come. The second biggest territory for Hindi movies, Delhi is shut down.

Delhi Chief Minister, Aravind Kejriwal has announced a Yellow Category alert for the Nation Capital. It means no theatres, malls, gyms or other indoor functions would be allowed.

Jersey starring Shahid Kapoor is indefinitely postponed. But, more than the sports drama, it has a direct repercussion on RRR.

To those who don’t understand the gravity of the situation, Delhi is the second biggest market for Bollywood. A blockbuster movie collects more than 70Cr in the area. Baahubali 2 has collected nearly 94 Cr, here which is a record.

Now, imagine such a big territory closed down. Add the currently existing fifty percent occupancy restriction in Maharashtra, it is nearly a 150Cr loss on arrival if the same situations prevail on January 7th.

The makers of RRR, especially SS Rajamouli is going all guns blazing with promotions. It would be a major setback for him if a prominent Bollywood territory like Delhi is shut down.

There is a buzz right now, that the closure is restricted only to the weekend and once New Year is over, things would be back to normal. Well, we hope that is the case for the sake of RRR.
