The summer season is usually a lucrative season for big-ticket films. Any star hero film that releases during the summer holiday season and gets even a reasonably decent word of mouth can make the most of the season advantage. If the talk is good, then the sky is the limit.
However, thanks to some inexplicable planning from Tollywood stars, two consecutive summer seasons have gone down the drain. First, it was the 2023 summer when even a single Telugu star hero film wasn’t released. The same scene is repeating itself in 2024.
2024 summer is nearly here and we don’t have a single-star film lined up for release. The most notable of the lot is perhaps Vijay Deverakonda’s Family Star which is releasing on April 5th.
Ideally, two star films should have been released this summer – Devara on April 5 and Kalki on May 9. But Devara has already vacated the spot and moved to October while Kalki is all but confirmed to skip the May slot due to the delay in production.
With both NTR and Prabhas backing off, the 2024 summer has also gone wasted. If wasting 2023 summer wasn’t enough, another golden season has gone wasted this year again.
Leaving the lucrative season, Pushpa 2 and Devara have gone for a release plan in the latter half of 2024. There is no update on when Kalki might be released.
As things stand, Family Star and Gangs of Godavari are the only mention worthy films arriving this summer.
