The Jolly LLB franchise is moving ahead with a new entry. The fourth part is scheduled to arrive by next year, and the title is yet to be confirmed by the makers. The good news for now is that the film is already in production.
This time, Arshad Warsi is playing the lead, and Akshay Kumar won’t be a part of it. Umesh Shukla has taken the director’s seat instead of Subhash Kapoor, who helmed the first three films of the franchise. But for all those who are expecting this to be a follow-up, the rumour is not true.
An insider has revealed that the film is already in the last phase of pre-production, and this time, it is going to be a prequel. The remaining cast members have not been confirmed yet.
On the other hand, expectations are still sky-high from the audience. This is mainly because the man who led the franchise in the beginning is returning to play the lead role. This also means that the limelight will be on Arshad, and Akshay won’t be there in front of him, taking away all the credit.
Moreover, Umesh is known as the director of films like OMG: Oh My God, where he handled a sensitive topic with a lot of satire and comedy. Considering that Jolly LLB films need the same level of treatment, social media users believe that Umesh is the right choice.
But the main concern that remains right now is whether audiences will show their interest in the film. For the unversed, the third entry, released in 2025, failed to repeat the success of the first two films in terms of storytelling and box office numbers. Although the net collections were reported to be Rs. 117 crores, it still could not make the impact that it was expected to have.
Since the third entry ruined the positive things about the franchise, only time will tell if audiences will show the same level of excitement. Netizens even pointed out that the absence of Akshay Kumar is going to affect the film, since Arshad does not work as a solo star in today’s time.
Trade experts still believe that the franchise popularity will help the film to take a big opening. But they even pointed out that the rest will entirely depend on the content and whether the story will be able to make a connection with the audience.
Nothing much can be said until the trailer or teaser comes out. Let’s wait and see if the upcoming prequel will change the fate of the franchise.
