KKR Star Rinku Singh has been scoring runs regularly in the Ranji Trophy, but there is still little talk about his place in India’s Test team.
Former India opener Aakash Chopra has now questioned why the batter is not being considered for the longest format despite his strong record in first class cricket.
Rinku scored 112 against Goa in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2026-27 season. It was his fourth century and second fifty in his last six innings. He also scored an unbeaten 165 against Punjab and 176 against Tamil Nadu during this run.
Aakash Chopra shared Rinku’s recent scores and pointed out that his performances deserve attention.
The Uttar Pradesh batter has scored 3,869 runs in 54 first class matches at an average of 59.52. His record also includes 10 centuries and 23 half-centuries.
Aakash Chopra said that despite these numbers, nobody seems to be discussing Rinku’s name for Test cricket.
He also pointed out that Rinku was part of India’s T20 World Cup winning team but has struggled to get regular chances in the national side.
Aakash Chopra believes Rinku may now be seen mainly as a white ball batter. He also spoke about how Rinku changed his batting role to fit into the Indian team but still could not secure a regular place.
With Rinku continuing to score runs in the Ranji Trophy, the question remains whether the selectors will consider him for India’s Test team.
